The former Bishop of St Davids, the Right Rev D.Huw Jones, began his career as a curate at Aberdare in 1959. He was then Vicar of Neath from 1961-65, Vicar of Crynant from 1965-69, sub-warden of St Michael's College, Llandaff, from 1974-78, lecturer in the Faculty of Theology at the University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire from 1974-78, Assistant Dean of Faculty from 1977-78, Diocesan Ecumenical Officer in 1979, Dean of Brecon Cathedral and Vicar of Brecon, St Mary and Battle with Llanddew from 1982-93. He was consecrated Assistant Bishop of St Asaph in 1993 and was enthroned Bishop of St Davids in 1996, the 126th in succession to St David. He retired at the end of 2001. |
